my itunes account is apparently authorized on 5 computers, however it should only be 2. doesn't really matter until now i have a new computer which i want to authorize my account for. However i am concerned that i deauthorize my account from the shared family computer that will deauthorize other family members as well, thereby taking one of their authorizing chances when they have to reauthorize, this may have been what happened to me, taking me up for 5 authorized machines.

Thankyou for contacting me regarding your iPod/iTunes issue.
As  I understand from your mail, your iTunes account is done with the 5  authorizations that is being allowed. And now you have got a new  computer, which you want to authorize, but you are unable to do so, as  you have no more authorization chances left.

Now the option infront of you is to make use of the onetime/year  deauthorization feature that is allowed to you in your account which  will remove all the 5 authorizations and hence you can begin  authorization. And doing this deauthorization will not affect any other  iTunes account. So you need not worry about if it will take away the  authorizations of other iTunes acount in your shared family computer.

Create iTunes Store Account Without Any Credit Card

Creating iTunes store account without any credit card is very straight forward and very simple. Just follow the simple steps below.:

1.Once you are in the iTunes Store, just navigate to the App Store.
2. Pick your country from the bottom.
3.Then in the search box, search for "FREE", you will find a list of free Applications.
4.Try to download Free Application and it will ask you to sign in.
5.Click on "create new account" from the pop up sign-in box.
6.Follow the on screen instructions carefully, and accept the licence and terms of use stuffs and then continue.
7. Provide a valid email address(verification mail will be sent to this email), and also fill up security question stuffs.
8.In the payment screen, there will be an option called "NONE". select that and continue.
9.Enter your address information and continue.

iTunes Store Authorization / Deauthorization

Recently I have received from an email from one of the iPod users and she had questions about iTunes Store Account Authorization and Deauthorization.

"I have a 5th gen iPod classic. I've had it about 3 years and in that time, apparently, I've used up all 5 authorizations. At least 2 of the computers were old home computers that didn't get deauthorized. 1 was stolen. 1 was wiped. And 1 is my current laptop. Yesterday I got my OS changed from Vista to Win7 and my IT assured me that my iTunes would be reinstalled, intact. It was, but when I plugged in my iPod, I got a message that said I was already authorized on 5 machines, therefore could not load music onto my iPod until I deauthorized another machine. So, iTunes recognizes my OS change as being a new machine. What do I do now? I don't have another machine to deauthorize."

So what to do if you are done with all the 5 authorization limit provided to you? How would you be able to play all the purchased musics ?

We do have solution to get this issue fixed. Just follow the steps given below.

iTunes has got a pretty easy solution for deauthorizing machines to which you still have access, but in case you are done with all the 5 authorization and dont have access to any of these machines, iTunes has got an option to deauthorize all of your machines at once.

1. The first step to solve your problem is to head to the iTunes Store section of iTunes, click the "sign in" button in the upper right corner, and log in to your account.

2.After you've signed in, we need to head to your account information page.Click on your username, again in the same spot in the upper right corner, and you'll see your account settings. or you can click on "Store" from the top main menu and there in the drop down you will have an option called "view account info". You'll also see the number of authorizations you've completed, and a big button that says "deauthorize all." If you're sure you're ready, go ahead and click the button.

Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers, or if you have used this option within the last 12 months.

Manage Multiple Libraries in Windows Computer

You got a taste for Jazz while your kids like Rock. All the music is being managed under the same iTunes library and all of these just gets into your iPod every-time you plug the iPod to computer? Are you in search of a solution to get this issue fixed?

There's a wonderful solution to this and that is to Manage Multiple iTunes Library on the same windows account.

Follow the steps below to create multiple iTunes Library in windows computer.

1. Make sure you have got a iTunes icon in your desktop.

2.Hold down the shift key and then without letting the shit key, double click on iTunes icon from desktop.

3.Yo will get a Library Pop-up

4.This pop up box will have options, "Choose Library" and "Create Library"

5. We already have a default iTunes Library in wich all our music is in there and its name is "iTunes".
We are here to create a new library for our kids. Lets name it "Kids Library". Cool

6. So from the pop up box click on "Create Library"

7.It will pull up another pop-up box as shown below and would wait for you to give the name to this new library. Say "Kids Library" and save it.

8. After you click on save , iTune will open up and it will be all empty. A fresh new Library exclusively for your Kids.

Similarly you can create as many libraries as you want.

Now that we have created library for our kids(Kids Library) and we already have a default library(iTunes), So every-time you or your kids want to open the iTunes , you need to choose the appropriate library.

So everytime you open iTunes, Just make sure to hold down the shift key and keep holding it, then double click on iTunes and keep holding the shift key until the library pop-up window comes. And this time, you just have to click on Choose Library option and then get in the appropriate Library. And that will pull up the respective libraries.

The key to the whole process is to hold Shift when clicking the iTunes icon. That will cause the Choose Library box to pop up. From there you can create libraries or select specific libraries you already have.

iPod Touch Recognized As Camera

Sometimes when you plug your iPod to your computer,. it gets recognized as a camera device and not as an iPod. Well not to worry, this is a very common issue. All you have to do is change some setting and you are done.

For Windows XP:

1. Connect your iPod touch to the Windows XP computer.
2.Now click on Start menu, Select Control Panel.
3. In Control Panel, you find an option called Printers and Other Hardware. Open Printers and Other Hardware (if the Control Panel is in Classic View, skip to the next step).
4. Next open Scanners and Cameras.
5. In the Scanners and Cameras window, right-click on the Apple iPhone or Apple iPod touch and choose Properties.
6. Click the Events tab.
7. On the Select an event pop-up menu, choose Camera Connected and then select "Take no action" in the Actions area.
8.Click OK and you are done.

For Windows Vista:

1. Connect your iPod touch to the Windows Vista computer.
2. From the Start menu, click on Control Panel.
3. In Control Panel, choose Hardware and Sound option.
4. In Hardware and Sound, choose AutoPlay.
5. Scroll down to section labeled "Devices" where it will list Apple iPhone or iPod touch.
6. Choose Take no action from the device pop-up menu.
7. Click Save and you are done.

Moving your iTunes Music folder from default C: drive to a different location.

Is your C drive full after loading all your music/movies into iTunes?
Do you want to move it to an external hard-drive or to a new location on a different drive(say D:)? Here is a way to move the iTunes music folder from MyDocuments > MyMusic > iTunes to a new location while retaining all your play-lists, ratings, and play history.

Make sure that the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" option is checked in iTunes Preferences:

1. Open iTunes application by double clicking into the icon.
2. From the Edit menu at the top, click on Preferences.
3. Click the Advanced tab in the Preferences window.
4. Select the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" check-box.
5. Click OK to save.

6. From the Edit menu, choose Preferences again.
7. Click the Advanced tab in the Preferences window.
8. Click the Change button in the iTunes Music folder location pane.
9. In the Change Music Folder Location window that appears, navigate to the location where you would like your new Music folder to be created.

10. Click the Make New Folder button in the Change Music Folder Location window.
11. Enter the name of the new iTunes Music folder.
12. Click OK in the Change Music Folder Location window. Click OK in the Advanced window.
13. Choose File > Library > Consolidate Library (iTunes 8 or later) or choose Advanced > Consolidate Library (iTunes 7 or below).
14. A message will pop up, click Consolidate.

15. After the folder has been copied, locate your original iTunes Music folder, and you can trash it/delete it.
16. Empty the Recycle Bin.

That's it. Now every-time you import songs to your iTunes, they will not get saved to C > MyMusic, but to your new location.

Make iPhone Ringtones from MP3 Songs Using iTunes

Most of you here will be wondering if it is possible to convert any song in iTunes to iPhone ring-tone. Well your search is over. As such with the help of iTunes you can convert the songs you purchased from iTunes store to the ring-tone very easily. That is all you need to do is right click on that particular song in your iTunes library and then click on CREATE RING-TONE. very simple.

There is also a way to convert any other songs to iPhone ring tone just by following the steps mentioned below.
You may use iTunes to convert any MP3 song into an iPhone ringtone provided the song file is not protected by DRM. This means the technique won’t work with iTunes store music but is perfect for creating ringtones from songs that you purchased from Amazon store or ripped from a CD.

Songs that can be converted to ringtones:

mp3
aiff
non-protected aac

Here is the step to make a ringtone out of the songs in iTunes:

1. Locate the song in iTunes of which you would like to create a ring-tone. Also decide the time frame of the ring-tone in this song. that is, you need to know exactly what is the start time and end time of the ring-tone in the song ( for example : start time = 1:15 and stop time = 1:30, so a 15 second ringtone.)

2. Right click on the song, and click on Get Info.

3. In the pop up window you have a tab called "Options", click on it. Under the Options tab you will find "Start time" and "stop time". you will have to check both the start time and stop time.

4. By default, the start-time will be 00:00 and stop-time will be the end time of your selected song. You will have to put in your chosen start and stop time there. and then click OK.

5. Keep the song highlighted(selected) in iTunes., Then click on Advanced at the top menu, and then choose "Create AAC version".

6. Once the AAC format of the song is ready, drag that song to desktop. and change the file extension from m4a to m4r. If it asks for confirmation, go ahead and accept it.

7. Windows users need to do this additional step, that is, Open My computer> go to tools from top menu>choose folder options>click on view tab>and make sure the "hide extensions for know file types" is un checked.

8. After this , go ahead and delete the AAC version of song from the library. Just right click and delete it.

9. Next drag the new file from desktop into your iTunes library. and there is your ring-tone ready.

10. It is that simple to create ring-tones of your favorite songs using iTunes 8.0 or later.

Redeeming iTunes gift card is very simple. Anyone can redeem an iTunes gift card through iTunes store, even if he does not have an iTunes store account.

If you have an iTunes store account, follow the steps below to redeem the gift card:

1. For redeeming the gift card you need to have the latest version of iTunes. Download it for FREE from here, or if you have iTunes already installed in your computer, you can go for an update.

iPod Touch : Restore Error 1611

iPod Touch Restore Error 1604

Sometimes when you try to sync your iPod , you may get some error and your iPod will prompt you to restore your iPod. And sometimes when you try restoring the iPod you may end up with various kind of errors and one such error alert is Unknown error 1604.

Follow the steps below to get this issue fixed:

1. If your iPod is showing USB cable and iTunes symbol, click HERE to troubleshoot it and restore the iPod in recovery mode.

2. If your iPod does not show any USB/iTunes symbol, click HERE to restore the iPod.

Uninstall And Reinstall iTunes

There are certain issues with your iPod such as iPod not showing up in iTunes, iPod not listing down under USB drivers in device manager etc, and these issues can be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes from your computer. Now when I say uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, i don't mean that you have to just remove iTunes and reinstall the iTunes setup file. Well that's true, but you need to take care of few other components of Apple as well while doing this.

The step by step instructions given below will help you uninstall and reinstall iTunes the best possible way Apple recommends.

UNINSTALLING iTUNES

1. Go to Control panel in your XP computer and then choose Add or remove programs.

2. It will take sometime to list down the programs installed in your computer and as soon as it is listed, look for iTunes. Select it and then click on Remove/Uninstall. It will then start to configure your iTunes installation for removing it from your computer and hence it will take some time. Just wait until the uninstall is complete and finally you might get the message to restart your computer. I recommend you not to restart at this point as we are not done yet.

3.After iTunes is removed from that list, you need to look for another program named QuickTime and if you see it, remove/Uninstall it as well.

4. Similarly look for programs such as Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, Bonjour etc.
Once all these programs are removed from your computer, now you can go ahead and restart your computer.
After your computer restarts, we will go ahead and install the Latest version of iTunes from Apple website.

INSTALLING iTUNES

1.Download iTunes from HERE

2.In the download page you will find DOWNLOAD NOW button, click on that and then when it ask you to RUN or SAVE, click on save and follow the onscreen instruction until the installation is completed. Do not change any default settings while the installation goes on.

3.Once the installation is completed , you will get a window with a message that iTunes installation is complete.

4.restart your computer again and after it restarts, you can go ahead and launch iTunes by clicking on iTunes icon and then connect your iPods to your computer.

Set Up An iTunes Store Account

Today I will be writing on how to create an iTunes store account using iTunes. It is very simple. Just follow the step by step instruction below and you will be able to create an iTunes store account.

1. You must be having iTunes application already running in your computer right? If not, Please download iTunes from here.

2. At the top menu of iTunes where you have options such as File, Edit etc... you also see an option called STORE. Click on Store

3. In the drop-down menu of Store, you see an option called Create Account. Click on it.

4.You fill find Terms&Condition here. If you agree with the terms and conditions, check the box and click Continue

5. You will see a form which you need to fill up and then you can create the Apple ID. This Apple ID will be the one which you will be using to sign into iTunes Store.

iPod Touch Does Not Connect To Wireless(WiFi) Network

"I can easily connect to my Linksys router with my 32gig iPod, but cannot for the life of me connect with my wifes 8gig Itouch. It simply gives me the message "Unable to join ______ " (the network I'm trying to connect to)."

Most of the time you face this issue with the iPod Touch, that for no reasons this iPod Touch will not connect to your WiFi network while your other iPods, your friends iPod does connect to the same network. Well there are a few troubleshooting steps which you need to try to get this issue fixed.

Please follow the troubleshooting steps given below:

1. RESET your iPod.

2. After it has been RESET, Click on the SETTINGS icon from the main menu.

3. From the Settings menu, you will find an option called RESET. Click on reset.

4. In the reset menu you will find an option called RESET NETWORK SETTINGS. Click on it and wait for sometime until your iPod Touch resets by itself.

5. Once your iPod is back to the main menu, Click on SETTINGS again.

6. You will find an option called WiFi, Click on that.

7. Here in WiFi menu you find an option to turn your WiFi ON/OFF. Turn it ON.

8. iPod will then scan for the available networks around you and it will list down the networks. You see your WiFi name listed there? If Yes follow the steps below.

9.If there is a small lock icon next to your iPod name, it means your network is password protected. Just tap above the network name and if it prompts you to enter your network password, go ahead and enter it and then click JOIN.

Most of the time these steps will resolve your WiFi issue.

In case your iPod did not list down your WiFi name, that means your iPods WiFi device is having trouble detecting wireless network. It needs service from the AppleCare.

If your iPod listed down the network name , but when you tried to join it, still gives the same error message, then all you have to do is try connecting this iPod to a public wireless network like Apple Store or Star Bucks.

iPod Touch Not Recognized In iTunes

Today I will be writing about a very common issue with the iPod Touch and that is, iPod not showing up in iTunes.

Most of the time when we plug our iPod Touch to the computer, iTunes will pop up and the iPod gets recognized in iTunes and then we can go about syncing the iPod with our favorite musics and applications.
At the same time due to some reasons, the iPod will never show up in iTunes and we get worried.
Here is the best solution to get this issue fixed.

The steps here will be time consuming one, buts its pretty much sure that it will help you fix the issue. There are few additional steps included to take care of certain small issues which you might face during the troubleshooting of the issue.

1. Make sure your iPod is fully charged. When you plug your iPod to the USB port of your computer, check what does it show in the iPod display. Usually it will show charging/do not disconnect message. If it shows this message , it means your iPod is well and fine and the issue is with iTunes.(GoTo Step )

2. If iPod display does not show anything, but the normal main menu with icons, then we have to follow following steps to get things fixed.

3.Reset your iPod Touch by following the steps given HERE.

Here's the step by step instruction on how to restart the apple mobile device in a windows computer:

1. Click on Run on the START menu of your windows computer.
2.In the RUN text box, type in services.msc and click OK. You will get a list of devices listed.

3.Look for "Apple Mobile Device Service" and check if the service is STARTED.

Today I will be giving step by step instruction on how to restore your iPod Touch.
Follow the step by step instruction given below to restore your iPod to factory settings.(These steps can also be used to Restore iPhone)

1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed in your computer. Its always recommended to use latest iTunes version all the time.
2. Connect your iPod touch to your computer's USB port using the USB cable.
3. Your iPod touch will then show up under the DEVICES in iTunes. Select your iPod.
4. Select the Summary tab from the top menu.
5. Select the Restore option.
6. It will then prompt you to backup your iPod Touch settings. Follow the on screen instruction to back up the settings.
7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you.
8. Once the restore process has completed the iPod Touch will Restarts and you will see an apple logo showing up in the iPod screen.

Most of the times if your computer USB drivers are not updated, you can end up with many issues with your iPod. So keep your USB drivers updated by following the steps below.

1. Plug your iPod to the computer.
2. Quit iTunes if it is open.
3. Click on the Start menu(bottom left hand corner of your computer), click Control Panel.
4. In the Control Panel, click on Administrative Tools. Note: If you don't see Administrative Tools that means you are on category view , look at the left column in Control Panel for a link that says, "Switch to Classic View," and click it.
5. Once you are in Administrative tools page,double click the Computer Management shortcut.
6. There in the left column you see Device Manager option, click on Device Manager.

7. In the right column, click the plus (+) icon next to Universal Serial Bus controllers to expand this selection.

8. In the drop-down list look for anything related to iPod or Apple, you might see something like "iPod" or "Apple Mobile Device". You may also see yellow colored exclamation mark next to it, which means it needs to be updated.

9. Right-click on the "iPod" or "Apple Mobile Device" in Device Manager and choose Update Driver from the shortcut menu.

10.A Hardware Update Wizard will pop-up, select "Yes, this time only" to allow Windows to connect to the Windows Update Website. Click Next.

11.Select "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" and click Next. Windows searches for updated drivers and installs any it finds

Note: During installation, if a message appears stating that the software you are installing "has not passed Windows Logo testing" click Continue Anyway to continue installing the drivers.

Today I am writing on how to reset iPod Nano 4th Generation iPod. Most of the time when you are syncing your iPod with your computer,Charging your iPod or listening to the music, your iPod screen will go blank and you will be surprised what happened to your iPod.

Well actually in these scenarios it is confirmed that, your iPod is frozen and all you need to do to fix the iPod is to reset it. Follow the steps below to reset your iPod.

If your iPod is connected to a computer and displays any of the following messages you should eject the iPod from computer instead of resetting it:

Connected. Eject before disconnecting
Sync in Progress. Please wait...
Do not disconnect

1.On the top left hand corner of your iPod you can see a toggle switch(lock/hold switch). Toggle it on and off(back and forth) for 4-5 times and make sure that the status light near this switch does not show orange color. If it shows orange, just toggle to other side so that it is hidden.

2.Next place your iPod on a flat surface.

3.You can see the MENU button and the CENTER(Select) button in your iPod. All you need to do is just press and hold both these buttons together at the same time and keep holding it until you see an Apple logo showing up in the iPod screen. Just let go your fingers when you see the apple logo and wait for some times.

After some time the Apple logo will disappear and and then your iPod will show the normal menu screen.
There you go. Your should be working fine now.

As I understand you have got an iPod Touch(Seems to be the First Generation iPod Touch).And when you turn your iPod ON, it shows the symbol of iTunes and USB cable.And when you plug your iPod in to the computer. it ask you to enter the passcode.Well not to worry about this issue.I have got to hear many iPod Touch customers facing this kind off issue.There is no known reason why all of a sudden your iPod came up with this issue.Anyways I will provide you with the troubleshooting steps which will surely resolve this issue and you can use your iPod as you always did.Lol...

In simple terms, all we have to do to resolve this issue is to Put You iPod In Recovery Mode And Restore To Factory Settings.(Note: Restoring the iPod to factory settings will delete all data from your iPod, but if you have these data(Music) in your iTunes, you can Sync it back once the restore is done ).

Please follow the following steps to put your iPod in the RECOVERY MODE and then to Restore it:
Note: Make Sure Your Computer Is Connected To The Internet.

1.Verify you have iTunes 8.0 or later. Apple recommends using the latest version of iTunes.
2.Disconnect the USB cable from the iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
3.Power off the device (Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the the iPod touch to turn off.
4.Press and hold the Home button while reconnecting the USB cable to iPod Touch. When you reconnect the USB to iPod Touch, the device should then power on.
5.Continue holding the Home button while iPod Touch starts up. While starting up, you will see the Apple logo.
6.When you see "Connect to iTunes"(As the picture above) on the screen, you can release the Home button and iTunes will display the recovery mode message:

Note: If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, then disconnect the USB cable from iPhone and repeat steps 3-6.

And when you see the above recovery mode message, just click on OK and then just follow the ON Screen instruction and then it will restore your iPod.

Hi, As I understand you have got an iPod Touch(either 1st generation or 2nd generation). And when you were playing the music, the display went blank. Well not to worry, it seems like your iPod is just frozen and all you need to do to fix this issue is to RESET you iPod. The question now arises is How to Reset the iPod Touch. Well its very simple. You can see an ON/OFF button(Sleep/Wake Button) at the top left hand corner of your iPod Touch and there is a Home Button(Menu Button) at the bottom. All you need to do is just press and hold both the button together at the same time and keep holding it for 10 to 15 seconds until you see an apple logo showing in the iPod display. When you see the apple logo , let go your fingers from these buttons and wait for some times. The apple logo will then disappear and then you will find the regular home screen of your iPod. As simple as that!

I do understand your desperation as your iPod is not working fine.As I understand you have an iPod Classic 80GB and every time you try to sync or update your iPod with iTunes, you get some unknown error codes(1303,53,48) and also an error message pops up "Device Cannot Be Read Or Written To".

Well This is a very common error faced by many iPod users. There are many reasons for these error pop up.I assume that your iPod plays the music fine,charges well.The main reason behind this issue is a corrupted music file which is in your iTunes music library and every time you try to auto sync your iPod, these corrupted file will cause this error pop up. So all you need to do is look for that particular music file which is causing this trouble. Now the question is how to look for that music file? All you need to do is, put your iPod in manually manage mode and try syncing songs manually one by one into your iPod by drag and drop, and the moment you try dragging and dropping the corrupted music file, you will get this error, just delete this file and try same steps until you are pretty sure that there are no more corrupted music files. In most case this will resolve your issue. I have a PowerBook G4 with mac os x 10.3.9, which by now is very old and outdated, but I can't afford a new computer at this time. I never really used itunes, but itunes 7.6.2 is what came with the powerbook.
I was recently given a new ipod nano as a gift. When I try to use it, it tells me that I need itunes 8 or higher. When I try to update to the latest itunes (itunes 8.2.1 I think), that tells me it is not compatible with my old system.

My question: is there some version of itunes that would be compatible with both my old computer and my new ipod? And where could I get that? Failing that, is there any other way to get my new ipod to work?

How to transfer CD tracks to iTunes and then import them to iPod

I am coming up with this post to provide the resolution to one of the comments posted in this blog.

Many users are still confused on how to transfer music to their iPod from iTunes. Well not to worry.I hope this article would surely help those.

Assuming you have a CD with audio tracks(make sure the tracks which you are trying to import are of the format .mp3 or .aac).

Step1: Insert the CD into your computer CD drive and let the computer read the CD.

Step2:Open the iTunes application in your computer.

Step3:On the left hand side panel of your iTunes , you can find option such as LIBRARY, STORE,DEVICES and PLAYLISTS.

Step4:Just check if you can see the title of your CD name under the DEVICES option.

Step5:If yes, then click on that and you will find all the tracks populated on the right hand side.

Step6:Then all you have to do is, at the bottom right hand corner you can find a button called "import CD". Click on that and all your CD tracks will get inside your iTunes LIBRARY.

Step7:To check if all the tracks are within the LIBRARY, click on "music" option which is below the LIBRARY. You can either see a whole list of songs, or the album cover of the CD. Just search for the tracks which we just imported.

There we go, all the CD tracks are imported into the iTunes.Now inorder to import them to the iPod just follow the steps below.

Step1:Before you plug your iPod to the computer, I want you to make sure that , This is the primary computer to which you always plug your iPod. It is always necessary to check this because if your iPod is in auto-sync mode, and if it is not your primary computer, then you stand a chance of loosing all your music from the iPod. So inorder to avoid any such risk, I will help you in transferring the tracks manually into you iPod from iTunes and which is always the safest way to do.

Step 2: To put you ipod in Manually sync mode, plug your ipod into the computer.Just check if you are getting any pop up from iTunes saying that "this ipod was used with different computer".
If not, well nothing to worry about, if yes, then you just have to click "cancel" button in that pop up.

Step3:You can see the name of your iPod just below the DEVICES option on left hand side.Click on that to get the summary page of your iPod on the right hand side.

Step4: In the summary option, at the bottom you can find a check list. There you can find an option called "Manually manage music and videos". It should be always checked.

Step5:Then go back to the music section under the LIBRARY and inorder to import the tracks all you have to do is drag them one by one or the selected tracks together and drop them over the iPOd name under the DEVICES.

There you go. You can find the iTunes say "iPod Syncing.Do not Disconnect". Once that is done, just unplug your ipod and check for the tracks.
